A farmer's daughter (Ellen) enlists the help of her best friend (Marian) to escape the clutches of her father and lonely life in the barren rice fields of her youth. Liberated from her impoverished life with her father, Ellen finds joy and excitement in her new life with Marian- their friendship deepening into a sexually charged romance and threatened by secrets that could end the two women's love affair.
